Life in Corfu

Corfu Town

The beautiful islanad of Corfu –or Kerkyra in Greek- is the jewel of the Ionian Sea and the perfect place for your summer holiday.
Corfu has a grand variety of historical sites, museums and places to visit, not only in Corfu Town, but all around the island. The old quarter of Corfu Town is a remnant of the Venetian era and, with its narrow streets, the colourful buildings and the small squares, will take you on a trip back in time.

Also, surrounded by a small, peaceful forest, the palace of Mon Repos, former residence of the Greek Royal family, should be a “must” on your to-do list.
Only a few kilometers outside of the town, you will find the Achilleion Palace, built by Empress Elizabeth of Bavaria, which is decorated with exquisite sculptures and works of art inspired by ancient Greek mythology. In the northernpart of the island, Palaiokastritsa is a lovely, isolated beach with crystal clear waters and caves. There, you can also visit the medieval monastery of Theotokos, which is still operated by a few monks.
